Tejas Trail Crew
(Fun Trail Building And Clean Up Trips)
Trips: Multiple trips, to do good, each with their own flavor
When: Spread throughout the year
Where: Various parks and ranches we love running at all around Texas
Who: Everyone is welcome, no matter their physical capabilities, including families with children
Every year we make multiple trips to various trail systems we use for events, and where we enjoy running and biking on. Some trips will be focused on creating new trails, others will be trimming back existing trails, while some will be simple plogging efforts (picking up trash while jogging). These trips are always a blast! We will work hard, play hard, do some running and course previews for upcoming races, thank the local trail stewards, and generally eat, drink and be merry!
Also, know we are always working on the next set of plans, so feel free to kick over any ideas you may have.

What To Expect
Great things always come from these Trail Crew Trips! When people come together to improve a situation or solve a problem together, they likely end up finding commonalities and becoming friends. Simultaneously, great things get done…for them personally and for the trails they came to improve. We hope everyone takes part in some giving back with us. You’ll be glad you did.
Guaranteed good fun with good people who share a passion for the trails.
Snacks and water provided. On bigger trips meals are included.
Basic tools are provided, so don’t stress if you don’t have anything.
A first hand look at race trails, and Q&A time with race directors and experienced racers.
Housing or camping is provided at no charge for events that run multiple days.
Please note, we do not offer race credits for trail work volunteering, as we are all (including us as well) volunteering to help the park or ranch.
General Info For All Trips (What To Bring)
Tools
You do not need any tools.
However, if you have anything you think may be usable, bring it. We may not need it, but it can’t hurt.
Work gloves
These are a must. Texas plants, trees, and brush cut up your hands. You’ll be glad you’ve got them.
Camping chair
Camping gear (if applicable)
Good drinks
It’s always fun to put extra drinks together in a common ice chest for sampling new goodies. Tejas Trails will be providing sodas, waters, gatorades, adult drinks, kids drinks, and some other tasty options.
Ice chest and ice
Long Clothes that can get torn up, for all weather conditions (even when it’s hot)
Always a good idea when trail building to cover the majority of your skin (from sun, rocks, bugs, scratchy plants, trees, etc.)
Wet weather clothes (if applicable)
For most venues, we will continue on with the plan no matter the weather. So, if it rains while we’re out, plan on getting wet and having a blast!
Full brimmed hat
Water carrying device (hand held bottles, vests, belts, etc.)
We may be out on trail for a long time, hiking out to further away spots. Hydration vests are definitely the best choice if you have one.
Light pack
For snacks, lunch, drinks and things you may want while out for a few hours at a time away from base camp.
Light portable small soft cooler with a sling
These are awesome to throw a little ice in, and have cold drinks out on the hot trail
Snacks
For time out on trail. We’ll be burning a good deal of calories.
We’ll provide some goodies, but if you have stuff you like, bring ‘em.
Sunscreen
Bug spray
Headlamp and extra batteries
Food
Each trip has its own details based on the length of the trip and location. Snacks are provided at a minimum and in many cases we provide meals.
For all trips: if you have dietary needs or preferences, it would probably be best if you provided your own food.
We like to buy dinners from local restaurants to support their local economy and business owners when we can, but usually our choices are pizza, fajitas, sandwiches, fruit, veggies, chips for dinner and lunch; and danishes, muffins, and pastries for breakfast.
