We fully recognize we could not (and would not want to) put on any of these events without your help. You breathe life into these events. You make them personal for people. We no doubt need you and love this component of our company. Know that we will always do everything we can to help you enjoy your time out there helping those runners achieve their goals and dreams. We're here to serve you as well as the runners!
“I love these events and the spirit of the volunteers at these races has gotten me through some tough times out on the trails. I’d love to give back.” - Victor

Here’s what we do for every volunteer we can
(as long as we know you're coming in time of course):
Park entry fees paid for
Camping fees reimbursed for (if your role requires an early morning or late evening and you sleep at the park)
You pick any site you like the best, reserve it, and we’ll reimburse you onsite.
If the longest distance is 50k, we’ll cover Friday night.
If it’s a 50 miler, we’ll cover Friday and Saturday nights, f you’re working throughout the whole event.
If it’s a 100km, 100 miler, or Tejas Dirt Festival, we’ll offer Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, if you’re working throughout the whole event.
Food provided while you are volunteering
A race swag item (such as a shirt, hat, bottle, etc.)
Loads of good memories
All the gear and supplies you need to successfully accomplish your task
Volunteer hours exchanged for future race entries
*Please note, we do not offer race credits for Tejas Trail Crew volunteering, as we are all (including us as well) doing these trips to help the park or ranch. We also do not offer race credits for HOKA Bandera, Rocky Raccoon 100, by USWE, or Rocky 50, by USWE (see those details below)
6-11 hours of volunteering = 25k or shorter half off
12-23 hours of volunteering = 6hr event, 50k or shorter for free
24-47 hours of volunteering = 9/12hr event, 100k or shorter for free
48+ hours of volunteering = 100m or shorter for free
Please keep up with your hours & let us know when you're ready to exchange them for a comp code. They’re good to use for any races outside of HOKA Bandera and Rocky Raccoon 100 & Rocky 50, by USWE. Hours must be used within 12 months of when they began to accrue.
*Special note about HOKA Bandera & Rocky Raccoon 100 & 50, by USWE:
Please understand that volunteering at these events does not accrue volunteer entry fees. Every comp entry we give away directly & indirectly costs Tejas Trails quite a bit of money. There are several hundred volunteers between these two events, and we can’t afford to pay our operational expenses if we gave away that many free entries throughout the year. Every volunteer does still receive all the other perks mentioned above though!
What we will do though, is if your club or organization is coming together to volunteer at an event, we will send over a few comp entries after the race for your group to raffle off; paper/rock/scissors for; octagon ring fight for; or however you want to divvy them up.
Just let us know if you represent a group & would like to hold us up on this offer.

What to Expect:
After you fill out the quick volunteer form, we will reach out to you with the best plan we come up with to utilize your time and abilities based on the info you gave us in your form. Then you can you tell us the general plan sounds good or needs tweaked. Closer to the event, we will give you the extra details, when and where to meet, and who to look for.
From there, obviously, this is a trail run, in the great outdoors, so things can change. But please see below for a basic understanding of more details of what to expect.
General:
When you get onsite, look for the person you were told to look for from your email reply. We’ve got Captains over each area and all needed directions and instructions are dialed in to where everything is pretty simple and fun. If you're helping at an Aid Station and you're there with a group, your Aid Station captain will have received all the pertinent info and can relay it on. If you're just coming on your own, we'll get you in the loop.
If you paid for camping (or the venue staff made you pay for your entry for some reason), let us know at the packet pickup tent. We will reimburse you.
All training we do can happen in a few minutes onsite, and on the fly. So don't stress.
The main thing to remember is that you're there to get runners successfully from the start line to the finish line; help them have the time of their lives and feel like the biggest deal on earth; and have a bunch of fun yourself!
We will do our best to take care of your needs, but we suggest you bring your own snacks, fluids, extra clothes, rain gear, warm gear, bug gear, heat gear, etc. We will take care of you all, but it does complicate things when we end up needing to spend our time and attention on the folks there to make the event happen, and not the runners.
Captains and Crews (bring your group):
Did you know you can bring your group or organization to volunteer at Tejas Trail events? Have a blast serving with your favorite people! No previous knowledge or ultra-trail experience is needed. We can train everyone once onsite, and on the fly. We have campsites reserved for volunteers if they want to primitive tent camp. And we can also let volunteers camp right at the aid station at most events. Everyone will get the same perks as listed above, but the Captains will get some extra love for the extra effort and coordinating your group.
Additionally, we will always include the Aid Station Crews names, social accounts, and websites if they want. This will get your company or crew some good press and notices about the Crew’s name and involvement in the ultra-trail community. We are also happy to include special mentions and messaging for our Aid Station Crews for anyone who owns or manages an industry-specific company or brand.
