Tejas Trail Crew - Huntsville State Park (Free Trail Building & Running Trips)

  • Huntsville State Park 565 Park Road 40 West Huntsville, TX 77340 United States (map)

Join us and our Wildsense friends at Huntsville State Park (home of the Rocky Raccoon 100 & Rocky 50 course), located at Huntsville State Park, in Huntsville, TX.

The park is hosting trail work days on the following dates: October 26th and 27th

Every year, we make multiple trips to give back to various trail systems we use for events and where we simply enjoy running and cycling. On some trips, we’ll be creating new trails. Others we’ll be trimming back existing trails. On some meet-ups we will be primarily plogging (running while picking up trash). All of these trips are a blast every time! We will work hard, play hard, do some running and course previews for upcoming races, thank the local trail stewards, and generally eat, drink and be merry! We hope everyone takes part in some giving back every once in a while. It makes the world around us much better!

Huntsville State Park is one of the best venues we get the privilege of hosting races at. Please join their staff and give back to this amazing park and wonderful staff with some trail work! They have received ongoing heavy rain storms and the trails and bridges have suffered from them. We have some work to do! Spread the word.

GENERAL DETAILS:

  • This is a trail work trip first and foremost. But we encourage you to also enjoy some trail running, mountain biking, hiking, fishing, and relaxing in a hammock before or after the trail work.

  • Please encourage any trail user and trail lover you know to join us. This isn’t just for Tejas Trails racers. We are also excited to work with other local and semi-local trail loving groups.

  • We will be helping the park staff repair damaged trails and bridges. There will be light duty work, and some harder efforts. There will be plenty for anyone, no matter their physical abilities.

  • Come for some, or all. Whatever your schedule allows.

  • Camping is available, but you’ll have to reserve it through the TPWD’s reservation system.

  • The park will be leading these ongoing trail work sessions. We’ll keep dates updated as we get them.
